Roundtable A monthly training which is held in each district. Each Roundtable has a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader session. It is also a great way to keep informed about upcoming district and council activities which a leader and his/her den/pack/troop/crew can participate in.
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)The goal of BALOO is to provide the experienced leader with the skills and confidence necessary to venture into the great outdoors with his or her Cub Scouts and provide them with a great first-time experience. There must be one BALOO trained leader on any overnight event for a Cub Scout Pack.
Weather Hazards Trainingis required for any Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, Sea Scout Ship, or Explorer post that is planning an overnight camp-out or activity. This training educates leaders on how to prepare for and deal with hazardous weather conditions that may arise during an outdoor activity.
Safe Swim DefenseBefore a group may engage in swimming activities of any kind, a minimum of one adult leader must complete Safe Swim Defense training, have a commitment card (No. 34243) with them, and agree to use the eight defenses in this plan. Can be completed on-line at www.myscouting.org
Safety Afloathas been developed to promote boating and boating safety and to set standards for safe unit activity afloat. Before a unit may engage in an excursion, expedition, or trip on the water (canoe, raft, sailboat, motorboat, rowboat, tube, or other craft), adult leaders for such activity must complete Safety Afloat Training, No. 34159A, have a commitment card, No. 34242A, with them, and be dedicated to full compliance with all nine points of Safety Afloat. Charter Organization Representative This training provides Charter Representatives with the information they need to understand their role and work as an effective liaison between the chartering organization and the scouting unit.
